While some folks have been busy calling on the NFL to make a last-minute switch away from Super Bowl LX halftime headliner Bad Bunny, it appears that former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long is a fan of having the rapper perform.
Long even made a request for Bad Bunny on his “Green Light with Chris Long” show on Friday.
“First song in the halftime show, and I need to get this out because it is Friday and there is still time to execute this Bad Bunny,” Long said. “Born in the USA. Bruce Springsteen comes out of like a (expletive) hole with a guitar, and he’s got like an American flag suit and Bad Bunny’s belting out a duet of ‘Born in the USA’ peoples’ heads would explode like when Clayton Bigsby was revealed.
“I think if Bad Bunny … I don’t know where you are Bruce Springsteen,” Long added. “Bossman, fly to (expletive) San Francisco. The first song needs to be ‘Born in the USA.’ I want to see some peoples’ tops explode.”
Many of Long’s followers on X pointed out that the lyrics to the song are not exactly conducive to the idea he may have been trying to convey. Some were on the same page with Long.
“A Puerto Rican singer and the original artist, both of whom have been (expletive) on by so-called patriots, using a song about how Americans treat other Americans like (expletive), is pretty on the nose!” another person on X responded. “Chris Long did some homework here. Well done!”
Others took the idea and ran with it a bit.
“Please let Bad Bunny open up with ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ or “Bawitiba’ but I Spanish!” one person replied.
Trump and Springsteen have a well-documented history of dislike for one another, and the president has made it clear he is no fan of Bad Bunny as the NFL’s pick for halftime headliner. So, at the least, Long’s suggestion would likely not land well with Trump and MAGA.
