Headlining the Jacksonville Jaguars’ own 2026 free agency class are running back Travis Etienne and Devin Lloyd.

If it were up to quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars would find a way to bring both players back.

“That’s a great start,” Lawrence said of re-signing Etienne. “That’s my guy. I been with him eight years. So I’m hoping we get Travis back. He’s a great player. I’m hoping we get him back. So that’s a great starting point.”

Lawrence then added, “Devin Lloyd’s a free agent. He had a great year. I mean, you look at what he did, he’s arguably the best linebacker in the league.”

It’s no surprise that Lawrence feels this way — those are two high-impact players. However, the reality of the NFL is that roster turnover happens each year, and that can mean moving on from key players.

When it comes to free agency spending, it’s worth noting that the Jaguars do find themselves in a tight salary cap situation at the moment.

In addition to that, at running back specifically, the Jaguars planned ahead for this moment, drafting Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen in last year’s draft.

Overcoming Lloyd’s potential absence will be more challenging. He did a bit of everything for the Jacksonville defense and is coming off an All-Pro season.

But like running back, this is a position that GM James Gladstone invested two draft picks in last offseason. Perhaps complicating matters is that Lloyd is likely to earn a big payday on the open market.

“Got some stuff to figure out,” Lawrence said, “and I think there’s guys that are a key part of what we’re doing, but at the end of the day, I don’t make those decisions, but I think we have the relationship in our building where our input is valued.”
