While Bad Bunny may be one of the most popular musicians in the world, there’s no shortage of people who intend to tune his Super Bowl halftime performance out. So one ex-NFL star believes he has a perfect idea for how the performing artist can quickly get the fans on his side.
On the latest episode of Green Light with Chris Long, the former NFL defensive end suggested that if Bad Bunny opened his act with Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA,” it would be a perfect way to silence the critics and get people going.
“First song in the halftime show… ‘Born in the USA.’ Bruce Springsteen comes out of a hole with a guitar with an American flag suit and the two do a duet, peoples’ heads would explode like when Clayton Bigsby was revealed. I think if Bad Bunny – I don’t know where you are Bruce Springsteen Boss Man – fly to (expletive) San Francisco, have the first song ‘Born in the USA.’ I think peoples’ tops explode,” Long said.
Brilliant?
“Born in the USA” famously ranks among the most misunderstood songs that Bruce Springsteen ever wrote. While often cited as a song inspiring patriotism and love for the United States, it actually critiques the country and the American Dream in a number of profound ways.
Whether Long himself realized that or not, fans in the comments thought it would be a brilliant way for Bad Bunny to troll his haters.
“A Puerto Rican singer and the original artist, both of whom have been [expletive] on by so-called patriots, using a song about how Americans treat other Americans like [expletive], it pretty on the nose! Chris Long did some homework here. Well done!” one user replied.
“That suggestion slaps, Chris!” wrote another.
“This would be the funniest (expletive) ever lol,” a third wrote.
“Someone needs to tag Bruce Springsteen asap.”

As cute of an idea as it is from Long, it’s probably too late for Bad Bunny to make that a new plan if he didn’t already plan it out weeks ago.
Springsteen himself famously performed in the halftime of Super Bowl XLIII 17 years ago. “Born in the USA” was not one of the songs he sang though.
