Life in the NFL moves fast, especially for a young player learning how to navigate a new locker room, higher expectations, and the pressure that comes with every snap. For Ashton Jeanty, having one constant outside of football has made all the difference.

The Las Vegas Raiders running back recently opened up about the role his wife, Gabrielle, has played in keeping him grounded during his first year in the league. Speaking during Super Bowl week in San Francisco, Jeanty explained that her presence has remained steady regardless of what happens on the field.

“It’s everything,” Jeanty said to People of her support. “No matter what happens, whether you have a good game, a bad game, they don’t care how much money you make or what you do. They just care about the person you are and that you become.”

That level of reassurance has been especially meaningful during a season Jeanty described as challenging but necessary. Adjusting to the NFL, he said, required patience, discipline, and a willingness to grow through discomfort.
“It was definitely a tough start, just learning myself in the league and earning my stripes,” Jeanty explained. “I just stayed focused, disciplined, and rooted in my faith.”
Now that the season has wrapped, Jeanty and his wife are embracing a slower pace. With the offseason underway, the couple is looking forward to spending more uninterrupted time together after months shaped by practice schedules and travel.

“It’s just more quality time,” Jeanty said, noting that something as simple as watching movies together has become a favorite way to unwind. He added that Gabrielle has a soft spot for dramatic films, which often set the tone for their nights in.
Jeanty also credited his family upbringing for helping him adjust to professional football, pointing specifically to his father, a U.S. Navy veteran. Watching his father commit to early mornings and long days left a lasting impression.

“I grew up watching my dad get up early every day for work,” Jeanty said. “If he could do it, I knew I could do it too.”
