Head coach Ben Johnson had the offense humming in his first year with Chicago. The Bears finished No. 6 in total offense in Caleb Williams’ second year in the league.
The Baltimore Ravens made a surprising move after a disappointing 8-9 season. The Ravens fired Super Bowl-winning head coach John Harbaugh after the coach argued to keep offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who would become the head coach of the Cleveland Browns in the offseason.
Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and several of his offensive teammates wanted Kliff Kingsbury to become their next offensive coordinator before Harbaugh was fired.
Jackson also had his eyes on the Bears.

Per the NFL Network, Jackson “instrumental” in the Ravens’ decision to hire offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, who spent one season with Bears under Johnson. Jackson is expected to remain in Baltimore to work with the former Bears offensive coordinator.
Via the NFL Network:
“Lamar Jackson is expected to enter contract extension talks with the Ravens this offseason, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo reported on NFL GameDay Morning on Sunday.
“Jackson was instrumental in Baltimore’s hiring of new head coach Jesse Minter and that of new OC Declan Doyle, putting to rest any speculation the Ravens were looking to trade the two-time MVP, per The Insiders. Jackson $74.5 million cap hit in 2026 will be something to work out this offseason, however.”
The Bears thought Doyle would return in 2026 after he pulled out of the running for the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator gig. But Doyle could elevate his chances to become a head coach by calling the plays for the Ravens and improving the play of Jackson.
On Sunday, the Bears promoted Press Taylor to become Doyle’s replacement at offensive coordinator for 2026.
