Bills’ rookie Dorian Strong provided an update on his neck injury

The Buffalo Bills have been hard at work to begin the offseason. After another unsuccessful Super Bowl run, head coach Sean McDermott got fired, with offensive coordinator Joe Brady being promoted to replace him. Brady has quickly assembled a talented coaching staff, with the hope being this group will provide the team with a strong foundation from which it can build from.

Eventually, the Bills are going to have to turn their attention to their roster, which needs to be tuned up over the next few months. One guy whose status on the team is currently up in the air is rookie cornerback Dorian Strong, who suffered a serious season-ending neck injury back in Week 4. With the offseason getting underway, Strong shared an update on his status that will surely catch fans’ attention.

Dorian Strong Issues Update on Neck Injury

The Bills selected Strong in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he ended up making the team’s initial 53-man roster out of training camp. Strong seemed set to play a secondary role in the team’s cornerback room, as he racked up 10 tackles over four games, one of which saw him draw the start on defense.

Everything came crashing down for Strong when he suffered a neck injury in Week 4 that ended his season. Making matters even worse, general manager Brandon Beane revealed that there was a chance Strong’s career could be over before it even really began. The determination on that would be made by the sort of procedure Strong would undergo to heal this injury.

For the most part, there’s been radio silence on Strong and his status, but that changed over the weekend. In a post on Instagram, Strong shared that he’s set to undergo a procedure to heal his neck injury, and based on the wording of his post, it sounds like he’s intent on returning to the field for Buffalo in 2026.

“GRATEFUL FOR IT ALL,” Strong wrote in a post on Instagram. “These past couple of months have been crazy. A lot of ups a lot of downs but I have been able to get my mental right. I’m excited to have this procedure and get back and be better than ever! I appreciate everybody who reached out. I appreciate the MAFIA for support and prayers.”

Strong still has several hurdles to clear before even considering a return to the football field, but it seems that if everything goes according to plan, he will have a shot to return to the fold for the Bills at some point in the future. While he is still an unproven player, it’s clear Buffalo was high on Strong before he suffered this injury.

Given the uncertainty surrounding his status, the Bills likely won’t be counting on Strong to be an immediate contributor in 2026 when building their roster this offseason. As a result, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them continue to look for some help in the secondary this offseason, particularly at the cornerback position, even as Strong works his way back onto the field.
