The Seattle Seahawks returned home on Monday after their Super Bowl victory on Sunday over the New England Patriots.

SEATTLE — The Seattle Seahawks returned home on Monday following their Super Bowl victory.

The team plane landed at SEA Airport from San Jose around 2:15 p.m. KING 5 had a crew on the tarmac for their homecoming.

The players were greeted with a water salute from Port of Seattle firefighters, who created an arch of water over the plane as it taxied in. Several airport workers and firefighters waved Seahawks flags and cheered.

Players exited the plane celebrating and displaying their new hardware, ready to share it with a city that has shown steadfast support.

Defensive lineman Jarran Reed emerged holding the Lombardi Trophy over his head, while wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba ran back from the buses to display the trophy again for cameras.

Quarterback Sam Darnold and running back Kenneth Walker III were not on the plane. Both remained in California to participate in the Disneyland Super Bowl parade.

The team boarded charter buses and traveled to the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, where fans were waiting to greet them.

KING 5 spoke with several Seahawks fans inside the airport who were returning home after attending the Super Bowl.

“You can see from the team that they care about the fans, and I am so proud for them and for all the fans that support all year,” said Grant Granger, a West Seattle resident who attended the game. “It’s so huge for the region, I mean you saw in the stadium, it was so full of 12’s, and I was loving see the videos back home of everyone celebrating, this is just so so important for us.”

Seattle defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday in Super Bowl LX.

“Thank you, thank you for everything,” said Griffin Pomada, a Lake Stevens resident who attended the Super Bowl. “They were awesome, hey played their hearts out.”

The team and its fans will celebrate the championship with a ceremony and parade in Seattle on Wednesday.

KING 5 will have exclusive coverage of the ceremony at 10 a.m. inside Lumen Field on Feb. 11, with parade coverage to follow.
