Here are the latest updates as White recovers from getting shot in San Francisco.
Keion White shooting updates
White is in his third year in the NFL and just finished his first season with the 49ers. The defensive end was the victim of a non-life-threatening shooting that occurred around 4 a.m. PT that required him to seek medical attention. Once he was checked out, it was determined that he needed surgery, which he was undergoing when the news broke about the incident. The injury is not expected to be career-threatening.
All that was initially reported was that the altercation took place at an event on Mission Street, and that White was not believed to have been involved in the altercation and was a bystander, per The Athletic’s Matt Barrows.
However, on Feb. 10, the San Francisco Standard obtained a police report that provided further details of the incident. According to the outlet, the police report indicated that White had been in an argument involving rapper Lil Baby, whose real name is Dominique Jones, at Dahlia’s, a bar and nightclub on Mission Street in San Francisco.
White had reportedly been holding a private event in the downstairs portion of the facility when the rapper’s “entourage” tried to enter that private event, leading to an argument.
Per the San Francisco Standard, a witness said that when he went upstairs to ask for managers’ help, “he heard two gunshots,” and then found White shot in his left leg but “did not know who the shooter was.” The police report also said White was “uncooperative” when asked who shot him, and police reportedly found a 9mm shell casing and a .45-caliber casing near the scene. Police reportedly arrived while “partygoers were still leaving” and with what “appeared to have been adult entertainers” sweeping up dollar bills.
The San Francisco Police Department has yet to name a suspect, per the San Francisco Standard.
The event came the morning following the Seattle Seahawks win over the New England Patriots at Super Bowl 60, which was held in Santa Clara, California, near San Francisco.
