It’s a fact that no New York Jets fan needs explained to them: This team badly needs help at wide receiver.
The Jets’ star receiver, Garrett Wilson, played in only seven games during the 2025 season, exiting early in two of those. Yet, he still finished as the team’s leader in receiving yards, despite collecting fewer than 400.
The call for help could hardly get louder than that.
While the Jets have some upside in 2024 second-round pick Adonai Mitchell, who created plenty of separation in 2025 but was frequently missed by quarterbacks, Mitchell’s hands have been too inconsistent for the Jets to trust him as the complement to Wilson.
New York needs a reliable weapon to complement Wilson—someone who can not only separate consistently, but also secure the ball when it’s thrown to him.
Could USC’s Makai Lemon be the answer?
Considered the consensus WR2 in the 2026 draft class (behind Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, whom we have already broken down on film), Lemon is frequently mocked to the Jets at No. 16 overall.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Lemon has some big fans in the draft community. There are analysts who rank him over Tate, and believe he will be a top-10 pick.
Others believe the Jets should go in a different direction than Lemon, even if he is available when they are on the clock at No. 16.
Which path makes the most sense for the Jets?
We’ll get the answer from Lemon’s All-22 film.
On the latest episode of Blewett’s Blitz, we break down Lemon’s 2025 performances against Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, Iowa, and Oregon.
Below is the full Makai Lemon scouting report (strengths and weaknesses) and film review.
