One of the most-watched storylines for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason is what Pro Bowl receiver Mike Evans will do.

The veteran could retire, or he could continue to play on in Tampa Bay as part of Baker Mayfield’s offense, and as the Super Bowl has come and gone, Mike’s future takes center stage.

Granted, given the wealth of options at Baker’s disposal, it isn’t a must to keep Evans, but it sure would be nice. The thought of Evans with another team is unfathomable for most, and we don’t see that happening.

Then again, the NFL is a never-say-never league.

And for PFF’s Mason Cameron, he’s named Evans’ best landing spot this offseason, and surprise, surprise, it’s Tampa.

“Evans has called Tampa Bay home for the entirety of his career, and given his level of play, the Buccaneers should do everything in their power to retain him until the day he decides to hang up the cleats,” Cameron wrote. “It wouldn’t be just for sentimental reasons; it’s also tied directly to his production and chemistry with Baker Mayfield.”

Evans set to make call on future soon

We heard from several reporters that Evans was going to wait until after the Super Bowl to decide his future, and now that the game has come and gone, we wait with anticipation.

NFL free agency begins in a month, so if Evans were to stay or go, the best course of action would be to make it known before then. One, because if he wants to leave, teams can pitch their ideas to him, and it allows the Buccaneers to get a replacement.

Conversely, if he wants to stay, getting that news out early would save him and the franchise a lot of nervous energy.

So, it’s a waiting game right now, and we don’t know which way Evans will lean when it comes to his future in the NFL.
