Brian Callahan and Brian Daboll just missed passing each other on the highway.

The Giants are hiring the former Titans head coach Callahan to be their quarterbacks coach, NFL Network reported, shortly after the Titans hired Daboll to be their offensive coordinator. They were the only two coaches fired during last season.

That means the Giants have surrounded Jaxson Dart with three quarterback gurus whose résumés include time working with Peyton Manning, Joe Burrow, Matthew Stafford, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes and Alex Smith.

Callahan joins former Chiefs offensive coordinator and Bears head coach Matt Nagy (offensive coordinator) and Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman (senior offensive assistant) on John Harbaugh’s first Giants staff.

Callahan has never worked with Harbaugh, Nagy or Roman but comes with stamps of approval. Whether it is too many cooks in the kitchen or not will be decided based on their personalities, but Harbaugh is used to building big staffs with the Ravens.

Callahan was tapped to be Titans head coach in 2024, but constant turmoil within the front office and too many losses (4-19) amounted to a quicker-than-expected firing and an abbreviated chance to call plays for 2025 No. 1 draft pick Cam Ward. He previously was Bengals non-play-calling offensive coordinator for five seasons, Lions quarterbacks coach and a young assistant with the Broncos.

Callahan’s interview with the Giants was Tuesday. He previously interviewed for the coordinator role that went to Nagy.
