The Detroit Lions led the NFL in scoring in 2024, putting up an incredible 564 points on the way to a 15-2 record. That’s 39 points more than any other team scored in the regular season.
Such an accomplishment doesn’t come without some strong performances in the passing game. Quarterback Jared Goff had a very good season, but he was throwing to a very talented group of receivers. In fact, the Lions wound up earning the highest season grade for receiving from Pro Football Focus (PFF).
The Lions edged out the Ravens for the top receiving grade in 2024. Detroit earned a grade of 89.1, while Baltimore was second at 88.2. There’s a healthy gap between that top duo and the next in line, the Rams at 84.8.
Receiving encompasses more than just the wide receivers, of course. In fact, the top Lions receiving grade was earned by running back David Montgomery at 90.7. All-Pro wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown was close behind at 90.2. Tight end Sam LaPorta posted an impressive 79.1 grade in his second season, too.
Detroit moved up from third in 2023 to the top spot in 2024. The Lions ranked fifth in PFF’s grading in 2022, as well. The receiving grade encompasses catch rate, route separation, drop rate, YAC and more.
