FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas football defensive line coach Marion Hobby is expected to be hired by the Indianapolis Colts to the same position, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Wednesday night.

Hobby, 59, was hired in December as part of head coach Ryan Silverfield’s first Arkansas staff. He agreed to a contract with the Razorbacks that pays him $700,000 per year through February 2028.

The terms of his contract have no-compete clauses for similar positions within the SEC and NFL through the 2026 season.

Should he be hired by the Colts, it would be a return to the NFL for Hobby.

Hobby spent last season in the college ranks at Tennessee as an assistant defensive line coach, and prior to that spent eight seasons coaching in the NFL.

He was a defensive line coach for the Cincinnati Bengals (2021-24), Miami Dolphins (2019-20) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2017-18). Hobby also coached New Orleans Saints defensive linemen from 2006-07.

Hobby began his career as a strength and conditioning coach at Tennessee-Martin in 1995, and held the same role while also coaching defensive tackles at Louisiana-Lafayette from 1996-97.

Hobby was an assistant strength and conditioning coach on the national championship team at Tennessee in 1998, then the defensive line coach at Ole Miss from 1999-2004. He coached defensive ends at Clemson in 2005.

He was the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Duke from 2008-10, and was the co-defensive coordinator and defensive ends coach at Clemson from 2011-16.
