San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White was shot early Monday morning while attending a post-Super Bowl event, according to NFL.com.
The 49ers announced the news in a statement, the website reports.
“Keion White was a victim of a shooting and sustained a bullet wound to his ankle this morning in San Francisco,” the team statement said. “He is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital. We will provide further updates when appropriate.”
White sustained non-life threatening injuries from the shooting, NFL.com reports.
The San Francisco Police Department responded to reports of a shooting Monday morning just after 4 a.m. The SFPD said that a verbal altercation occurred before shots were fired by an unknown suspect.
Keion White was transported to a local hospital after being treated by paramedics at the scene.
White just completed his third season in the NFL. Prior to turning pro, he played college football at Old Dominion and then Georgia Tech.
During his final season with the Yellow Jackets, White recorded 54 tackles and 7.5 sacks. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
This past season, White was traded from the Patriots to the 49ers. He finished the 2025 season with 18 tackles and 1.5 sacks. In the postseason, he recorded 4 tackles and a sack in two games for the 49ers.
