Everybody knows football players are tough. And among football players, the toughest are probably the offensive linemen.
If you’re looking for the toughest of the tough, you might want to look at the Seattle Seahawks’ Abraham Lucas.
Seahawks cut loose as ‘best team in the world’ at title parade
Here’s how tough Lucas is. During the Seahawks’ Super Bowl celebration parade on Wednesday, the 6-foot-6 right tackle was riding on the top of a double-decker bus through downtown Seattle. And with Lucas looking toward fans on the sidewalk and not the direction that the bus was heading, he took a shot to the side of the dome from a honest-to-gosh traffic light.
Uh… ouch.
You can watch a clip at this link. And yes, Lucas is OK. He said so himself when he shared the video (with a sound effect dubbed in) on his Instagram stories with the caption “I’m alright yall.”
Among the Seahawks players celebrating on Wednesday, it’s doubtful the events of the day were more meaningful to anyone than the 27-year-old Lucas. He’s a local product from Everett who starred in high school at Archbishop Murphy and in college for the WSU Cougars. One would have to imagine he heard a lot of “Go Cougs” on Wednesday as he was wearing Wazzu gear during the celebration.
And remember how we were saying how tough Lucas is? After struggling with persistent knee issues that limited him to 13 total games in 2023 and 2024, he started every single game for the Seahawks in their Super Bowl-winning 2025 campaign – 20 in all when you combine the regular season and playoffs. It’s no wonder he could take a shot from a traffic light and keep on truckin’.
