QuickChek and New York Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux recently teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of Newark to get kids moving.

The inaugural QuickChek Field Day took place earlier this month. As part of the event, youngsters participated in a variety of sports-focused activities. They also held a Q&A session with brand ambassador Thibodeaux, as well as enjoyed subs and fresh-baked cookies from QuickChek.

The event built on the ongoing partnership between the Boys & Girls Club of America and the Whitehouse Station-based convenience chain. It furthers their shared commitment to empowering young people and fostering healthy communities.

A subsidiary of Murphy USA, QuickChek is a longtime supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. It partners with the organization to raise funds for local clubs through initiatives. Outreach has included customer round-up campaigns and also donations from store openings.

“As an alum of the Boys & Girls Club of Newark, I know first-hand the lasting impact this Field Day will have on our Club Members,” said Ameer Washington, CEO of the Newark chapter. “Thank you, QuickChek and Kayvon Thibodeaux for taking the time to get to know our Club members and investing in their futures.”

Coming together

Thibodeauxo is the first professional athlete to serve as a QuickChek brand ambassador. He aimed to show how discipline, healthy choices as well as community involvement can set members up for future success.

“It was an honor to get to share my experiences and be a positive influence in the lives of kids and teenagers right here in New Jersey,” he said.

Blake Segal, senior vice president at Murphy and head of QuickChek Corp., said, “The launch of the QuickChek Field Day with the Boys and Girls Club has allowed us to deepen our partnership with the organization and Kayvon Thibodeaux. We are excited to see additional ways we can come together to improve community connections, healthy living and youth development.”
