KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A former Pro Bowl running back is leaving the college coaching ranks to join the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to several reports, Oklahoma running backs coach DeMarco Murray is joining the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff in the same role.
Murray, who coached at Oklahoma for the last six seasons, joins the Chiefs coaching staff that has undergone several changes since a 6-11 season came to a conclusion in early January.
The former Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans star who was a three-time Pro Bowler, one-time All-Pro and 2014 AP Offensive Player of the Year, replaces Todd Pinkston as the Chiefs’ running backs coach.
Kansas City also has a new wide receivers coach, and rehired Eric Bieniemy to be the team’s offensive coordinator once again.
Murray joins the Chiefs after three consecutive seasons in which the Sooners failed to have a 1,000-yard rusher.
