There’s no other way to put it, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Joe Brady are under huge pressure this offseason.

After moving on from Sean McDermott, the Bills, under Brady, will be expected to continue the regular season dominance while faring better in the playoffs. But to do that, the Bills have to address several issues this offseason.

In both free agency and the draft, Buffalo has to be nearly perfect in the players it acquires, otherwise, 2026 might be a step back from what we’ve come to know from the Bills.

And Bleacher Report’s Gavin Davenport writes that if the Bills don’t get the necessary pieces in this offseason, he thinks that a nosedive could be happening.

“The Bills have issues of their own,” Davenport wrote. “What the Bills don’t have is a lot of resources to address those issues—the team is over $7 million in the red against the projected salary cap for 2026. The team will no doubt redo some deals to free up wiggle room, but Buffalo will be hard-pressed to be major players in free agency.

“That amps up the pressure on Beane to find some value free agents and/or hammer this year’s draft. The alternative is falling that much farther behind the Patriots in the AFC East—and a perennial AFC power in recent years being relegated to also-ran status.”

Surely Bills can’t slip in 2026

When you have Josh Allen in his prime, coupled with star back James Cook, you are always going to be in the Super Bowl conversation, but how seriously people will take you is another thing.

If the Bills don’t get that top weapon for Allen and run it back with the defense for Jim Leonhard, then who knows what this Buffalo team can be?

The New England Patriots aren’t going anywhere, and the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets remain bottom-feeders in the division. But the Bills can’t afford to lose more ground to their division rivals.

Being an “also-ran” is a nightmare for Bills fans, particularly given how dominant they’ve been in the regular season under McDermott.

So yeah, the pressure is on to avoid that scenario.
