Shane Steichen has made an addition to the Indianapolis Colts coaching staff.

According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Colts are “expected” to hire Arkansas Marion Hobby as their next defensive line coach.

This job on the Colts coaching staff was open after Charlie Partridge left to join Notre Dame as their defensive line coach.

Hobby has only been with Arkansas since December. He spent the 2025 college season as a defensive analyst at Tennessee.

Hobby has plenty of coaching experience in the NFL and has worked under current Colts’ defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. From 2021-2024, Hobby was the Cincinnati Bengals‘ defensive line coach, which of note, is another connection the Colts now have to top free agent pass rusher Trey Hendrickson.

Before joining the Bengals coaching staff, Hobby was the Miami Dolphins defensive line coach for two seasons (2019-2020) and the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ defensive line coach for two seasons before that (2017-2018).

Hobby first started coaching the defensive line back in 1999 at Ole Miss.

The Colts’ run defense held up well last season, even with DeForest Buckner for much of the second half. But this unit needs more consistent pass rush production.
