The Minnesota Vikings need to get their QB situation on the right path, whether that’s with J.J. McCarthy or another veteran sign-caller. Moreover, the Vikings need to take advantage of having arguably the best wide receiver in Justin Jefferson before he gets tired of the situation.

Jefferson’s 2025 NFL season was a challenging one, as he barely recorded over 1,000 yards receiving and two touchdowns. As a result, the Vikings star might be done with the team if he endures another season like the one he just had, as many have questioned whether he’s still the best wideout in the league.

Nonetheless, should Jefferson want out of Minnesota due to the QB play impacting his performance, the Boston Globe’s Christopher Price believes the New England Patriots need to jump on the opportunity to have a true No. 1 wide receiver.

“I also think a fascinating conversation to have would be about Justin Jefferson,” Price said during a Feb. 12 appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub. “He would cost a lot, but he’s a true No. 1 and he’s wasting away in Minnesota… If you decide to keep Stefon Diggs around, you rework the contract a little bit. At that point, the Jefferson idea becomes completely moot, but I still think it’s an interesting one to have.”

Justin Jefferson Doesn’t Hold Back on Vikings QB Situation

The Vikings are unlikely to trade Jefferson this offseason. However, during Super Bowl week, he didn’t hold back his thoughts on the team’s QB situation. Jefferson appeared on the Feb. 4 edition of “Up & Adams” and set the record straight regarding his remarks on the Vikings’ QB situation while also backing J.J. McCarthy.

“That’s not my decision,” Jefferson said about the Vikings’ decision-making at QB this offseason. “I don’t care who’s throwing me that ball. That’s not my main priority. I’ve said that multiple times, I don’t really care who’s going to be throwing that ball, but the person that’s throwing that ball needs to throw that ball and needs to lead us into that big dance at the end of the season.

“As of right now, J.J. is my quarterback. For me, it’s to get him to where we need to go. It starts off right now in offseason and getting better.”

Justin Jefferson Believes He’s Still the No. 1 WR in the NFL

Moreover, Jefferson fired back, claiming he’s still the best at his position, but kind of took an indirect dig at McCarthy in the process.

“Obviously, I have to depend on a lot of people for me to get that ball,” Jefferson said on the Feb. 5 edition of “First Things First.” “So if I don’t have an elite quarterback that’s throwing me the ball the entire year, then it’s a little bit difficult to be in those conversations.

“Having a young quarterback that’s still learning the game and still learning his potential in this league, you have those difficult seasons, which I had this past year. So I still think that I’m still [the] No. 1 [wide receiver in the NFL].

“I still think that no one in this league can cover me man to man. That’s without a doubt. So my confidence level will always be high, and I always will feel that I’m number one in my eyes.”
