The New Orleans Saints shouldn’t let this Lewis Bond being snubbed from the NFL Scouting Cobine impact them. Bond is still an ideal prospect for them who would perfectly complement Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele. In fact, him not being invited could make him fall in the draft, perhaps making him a better value pick for them.

The Combine has the potential to drastically raise a prospect’s stock, which is why it’s so crucial to participate. Overall, a majority of the premier prospects will be in attendance; however, there were a few questionable absences. Arguably, the most egregious snub is Boston College wide receiver Lewis Bond.

The 5-foot-11, 180 pound player was one of the sole bright spots for the Eagles. He tallied 88 receptions for 993 yards and one touchdown in 2025. The slot receiver mixes elite short-area quickness with a high IQ to become a reliable and explosive target for the quarterback. He tore up the Senior Bowl and raised his stock in Mobile, AL, which is a key reason why it’s shocking he wasn’t invited. Despite this, he’s still a talented receiver who will impact an NFL team early in his career.

Lewis Bond’s short-area quickness makes him a threat for opposing defenses

Bond has amazing agility which makes it challenging for defenders to stay with him. He excels at creating separation with his rapid acceleration and tempo while running routes. Bond is excellent in/out of cuts and doesn’t lose speed. He doesn’t have elite vertical speed, but is still nearly impossible to keep up with.

Bond isn’t the most physical player, which causes him to struggle when officials “are letting them play” and not calling fouls. However, even if this does happen, he’s still an option. Bond is surprisingly great in contested catch situations. He has reliable hands and consistently reels in catches despite contact.

Bond would fit perfectly as a slot receiver in the Saints offense. Olave and Vele are the Saints two primary outside receivers, which allows Bond to remain on the inside. He’s an exceptional middle of the field threat who can create yards after the catch.

That makes Bond a 2-for-1 special for the Saints. The Saints need another player to operate over the middle of the field. More importantly, yards after the catch is something the Saints desperately need on the team. Being able to provide that trait is enough for Bond to instantly earn snaps.

Overall, Lewis Bond may not be the biggest name, but he is uber-talented despite not receiving an invite to the 2026 NFL Combine. He will be a high-impact player in the NFL regardless of where he gets drafted. The Saints should keep an eye on him and consider drafting him in April.
