The Washington Commanders introduced new coordinators, David Blough (offense) and Daronte Jones (defense), earlier this week, but head coach Dan Quinn continues to add to his coaching staff
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Commanders are expected to hire LSU safeties coach Jake Olsen. Zenitz doesn’t indicate what Olsen’s role will be, but Washington has a safeties coach (Tommy Donatell) and a cornerbacks coach (William Gay).
Olsen spent the last two seasons at LSU, serving as safeties coach. It was his second stint in Baton Rouge, as in 2021, Olsen was an LSU analyst when Daronte Jones was the Tigers‘ first-year defensive coordinator. In 2022, Olsen landed at Missouri, where he coached linebackers for the next two seasons. At Mizzou, Olsen oversaw the development of linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper, who would become an All-SEC linebacker and Butkus Award semifinalist. He was a third-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Here is a list of Olsen’s coaching stops:
