The latest report on Jacksonville Jaguars’ Travis Hunter from the NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe also has a trickle-down effect to Brian Thomas Jr.
In short, Thomas Jr. isn’t going anywhere.
Wolfe recently reported that the Jaguars plan for Hunter to be a “full-time” cornerback in 2026, while playing wide receiver part-time.
Since the NFL trade deadline, there have been reports and speculation about Thomas Jr.’s future with the Jaguars. However, with Hunter spending most of his time at cornerback, rest assured that Thomas Jr. isn’t going anywhere.
That shouldn’t come as a surprise either. Over the last few months, the Jaguars have been adamant in saying that Thomas Jr. is a key part of this team. Coen again addressed the topic during his end-of-season press conference.

“When you are part of a team that wins, the wealth will be shared,” Coen said of spreading the ball around. “It will never truly be about one player. I will continue to pour into these guys… BT will 100% be a part of that.”
After a very impressive rookie season in 2024, which included Thomas Jr. totaling nearly 1,300 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, his production took a step back in 2025.
Thomas Jr. finished this past season recording 728 receiving yards, including the Jaguars‘ playoff game, and had only three touchdowns.
Dropped passes, particularly through the first half of the season, were a big issue. Thomas Jr. also missed time due to an injury.
But going beyond the production that Thomas Jr. can bring, his presence is important to the overall effectiveness of the Jaguars’ offense.
With his ability to stretch the field, that creates better spacing and opportunities for others to exploit. When Thomas Jr. was sidelined, this element was missing, and the Jaguars felt the effects of that.
Thomas Jr. is also entering the third year of his rookie deal. Given his previous production and potential, that is a tremendous value for the Jaguars. Trading him never made much sense.
