The 2025 NFL season was a surprising one for the Denver Broncos as they earned the top seed in the AFC for the playoffs. Denver looked as if it were going to reach the Super Bowl until an injury to quarterback Bo Nix took their heart out.

Without Nix, the Broncos fell in the AFC Championship Game, and now this team enters the offseason with a lot of work to do. No longer will they be the team that surprises people, but instead, they will be an organization that gets circled on opponents’ schedules.

Denver has a strong group at the wide receiver position, but this team could always use more talent. Courtland Sutton, Pat Bryant, and Marvin Mims Jr. are all very good, but there seems to be something missing from this core.

This could see the Broncos’ front office look to make a move this offseason, pushing the chips fully in on going after a Super Bowl title. The hope is that Nix will return from injury well, and this franchise can pick up next season where it left off before he went down.

Broncos Trade For Brian Thomas Jr

One of the better options on the trade front this offseason for the Broncos could be third-year wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Thomas Jr. took a big step back in terms of production from his incredible rookie year, and he could be just the high upside move for Denver to take.

When the Jaguars hired Liam Coen this past offseason, many expected Thomas Jr. to continue breaking out as a wide receiver. But things never materialized. In 14 games for the Jaguars this year, Thomas Jr. caught 48 passes for 707 yards and only two touchdowns.

In comparison, his rookie year saw him catch 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns. Thomas Jr. seemed not to be given as many deep ball chances this season, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence looking more for short to intermediate throws.

And by the end of the season, it was clear that guys such as Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington were more favored targets for Lawrence. Jacksonville may not need Thomas Jr. for the upcoming season, and if they can turn him into other assets, a trade could make sense.

This is where the Broncos come in, and Thomas Jr. could thrive playing in the Denver system. Nix loves to throw the ball deep, and we could see Thomas Jr. get back to around his rookie year numbers with the Broncos.

Thomas Jr. is an elite weapon when used correctly, and he proved it in 2024. If Denver were to land him in a deal, they could have one of the deepest wide receiving units in the entire NFL.

Pairing him with Sutton, Mims Jr., Bryant, and others could really make this offense take off. Denver wants to compete for a Super Bowl again next season, but unless they upgrade the offensive weapons for Nix, things could end the same for this team.
