Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson put the entire NFL on notice with how quickly they turned things around for the Chicago Bears. It was a historic Year 1 for the Bears’ quarterback and head coach Ben Johnson. Both the quarterback and coach have left quite an impression not just on the league but the players in the locker room who are free agents, such as Nahshon Wright.

In a recent Bears Wire article by Mike Pendleton, he analyzed what Nahshon Wright had to say about the Bears’ starting quarterback and head coach:

“With Johnson leading the way for the offense, Williams enjoyed a brilliant sophomore breakout campaign, throwing for a franchise record 3,946 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while leading the Bears to their first NFC North division title since the 2018 season and first postseason win in 15 years.

One of the team’s biggest breakout stars of the entire season was cornerback Nahshon Wright who enjoyed a Pro Bowl, career-best season on a one-year contract with Chicago, and he came away extremely impressed with Johnson and Williams. While his return to the Bears in 2026 is unknown, Wright said that the duo of Johnson and Williams will be unstoppable for years to come.

The Bears’ offensive young talent has benefited the most from their starting quarterback, but the defense has had multiple chances to sit back and watch their guy deliver. Nahshon Wright, like many other experts, believes the ceiling is high with Caleb and the ceiling is very high with the Bears’ new tandem.

Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson are getting better with their relationship, and they are becoming more in sync. The times this team came up short, it was usually a miscommunication. That will be easy to fix, as this team is getting more comfortable with a tough, challenging Ben Johnson offense.

The next season, Caleb Williams will put an end to the sad record for 4k yards passing, and I think there will be a more complete Bears offense that is shown throughout the season. The Bears are just getting started, and they already gave teams fits in year 1. The sky is the limit for Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams.

Here are Nahshon Wright’s thoughts on Caleb and Ben Johnson:

“I’m a huge Caleb fan, I was always a huge fan of his when he was at USC,” Wright told CHGO. “For Ben, we played against him a few times when I was in Dallas, I think the only reason why we won was that (Dan) Skipper didn’t report in the game. He gave us a hell of a game, then, I knew he was a hell of a coach from the way he called plays. Just seeing them two come together, a great mind and a great quarterback that can do practically everything on the field, they’re definitely going to be a pretty unstoppable coach-quarterback duo.”
