Michigan landed a major recruit this offseason in Utah transfer defensive end John Henry Daley. The Utah standout had 48 tackles (24 solo), 11.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 2025. Henry Daley is currently in the midst of a rehab process after he ruptured his Achilles last season. And in fact, his rehab is going great.

“Man, it’s going better than expected,” Daley said. “Everybody’s blown away with the progress I’ve made so far. It’s been very, very encouraging on all fronts — better than I expected, better than the surgeon expected and we are flying along in the process. Got to be patient with this, can’t rush anything, but, at the same time, they want an aggressive approach to it, and I’m feeling great, walking just fine, doing everything great and just looking at the next steps now.”

If Daley’s recovery winds up being as good as it sounds, the hype surrounding him is bound to increase — and the hype is already quite high. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound edge rusher made ESPN’s 2026 Way-Too-Early All-America Team. Daley views his production last season as a starting point for what he’s capable of. If that’s the case, he’s bound to be one of the most dangerous pass rushers in college football and rack up a ton of sacks in the process.

“I feel like that’s the floor—not the ceiling— of what I’m going to be able to do,” Daley said. “Obviously, I just need to keep on attacking my rehab and doing everything that’s necessary, but I’ll be back, and I won’t be back to where I was, but I’ll be better than I’ve ever been.”
