The 2026 NFL offseason is in full swing now. For the Miami Dolphins, following getting their coaching staff set under new head coach Jeff Hafley, they went on to make a flurry of releases.
The most notable release the Dolphins made was Tyreek Hill. They also went on to release Bradley Chubb, James Daniels, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.
Sources: Miami’s eight-time Pro-Bowl WR Tyreek Hill is being released. Hill turns 32 on March 1, is recovering from a dislocated knee and torn ACL, and now will be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.

With Hill now a free agent, he is able to sign with any team. There are already strong rumors linking him to the Kansas City Chiefs, yet there is another AFC West team that makes sense. That team is the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Los Angeles Chargers made more strides last season in Jim Harbaugh’s second season as their head coach. While they were able to make the playoffs and almost win the division, they still were missing a few key things on the roster to actually secure the AFC West.
One of those areas that they must look to further improve is the wide receiver room. That being said, they have a new offensive coordinator in town with Mike McDaniel. Based on his offensive scheme, he will be able to help open up the pass game better for Justin Herbert, but to do so he needs more wide receivers to work with.
That is where he can turn to a wide receiver he is familiar with in Tyreek Hill.
Mike to the chargers hm

Hill had already made a comment about McDaniel when he was hired by the Chargers back in January that raised some attention about his potential interest in following him there. With his release, this now becomes fully possible.
McDaniel and Hill got to know each other from the last four seasons they spent together in Miami. During that span, Hill went on to produce 4,733 yards and 27 touchdowns. McDaniel knew how to utilize Hill’s speed and skills, which is something Hill should value when considering his next team.
When it comes to the Chargers, they present a favorable destination all around. Outside of the continuity with McDaniel, Hill would also have Justin Herbert as his quarterback, and with Herbert’s passing ability, Hill should fee reassured that he will get the ball often in various situations. He would also be going to a team that finished with an 11-6 record last season.
While Tyreek Hill will be coming off a season-ending dislocated knee injury, he still can provide the Chargers with the wide receiver depth they need, Between his experience and skills, he can become the ideal wide receiver for Los Angeles to pair with Ladd McConkey and Quintin Johnston.
