CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards predicted new head coach Jeff Hafley and the Miami Dolphins to pick cornerback Jermod McCoy in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Miami Dolphins had one of the shallowest cornerback groups in the league last season. Entering the 2026 offseason, the position group is arguably in worst shape for the Dolphins.

But with the No. 11 overall pick, Miami could begin fixing cornerback with one of the top prospects in the 2026 class.

In his newest mock draft on Monday, CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards projected the Dolphins to pick Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

“Cornerback was a position of need for Miami coming into the season, and the contributors it was able to gather at that spot are now hitting free agency. Jeff Hafley’s background is coaching defensive backs,” Edwards wrote. “The team has invested ample resources into a defensive line that remains very much a work in progress while neglecting the secondary.

“If Jermod McCoy returns to form, he could be one of the best prospects to emerge from this class.”

McCoy registered 16 pass defenses and six interceptions in 25 games during his college career. At Tennessee in 2024, he posted nine pass defenses and four interceptions with 44 combined tackles.

McCoy didn’t play during the 2025 campaign because of an offseason knee injury.
