Will the Kansas City Chiefs reunite quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill?
The Kansas City Chiefs are in the market for pass-catchers, and a reunion between Tyreek Hill and quarterback Patrick Mahomes has picked up significant steam since the Miami Dolphins released the wide receiver on Monday.
Kalshi, which on its official website describes itself as a “regulated exchange & prediction market where you can trade on the outcome of real-world events,” released odds on Hill’s next team on Tuesday, February 17, and Kansas City was in second behind only its fiercest division rival.
“Trending: The Broncos and Chiefs are the two strongest favorites to sign free agent receiver Tyreek Hill, per @Kalshi,” the JPA account posted to X. “Denver has a 74% chance, with Kansas City at a 55% chance. Who will sign @cheetah?”

The Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants have 10 percent and six percent chances to acquire Hill in free agency, respectively, according to Kalshi.
Tyreek Hill’s Health, Cost Likely to Determine His Chances of Return to Kansas City

The two questions that will ultimately decide whether Kansas City wants Hill back, and whether the franchise ends up signing him, are the following:
How healthy will he be?
How much will he cost?
Hill suffered a gruesome knee dislocation in Week 4 of last season, which came with a torn ACL alongside other damaged ligaments. The typical return timeline for such injuries is between nine months and one year, which potentially puts Hill on track for Week 1 of the 2026 campaign.
However, he is also about to turn 32 years old ahead of his 11th NFL season, which could slow down his rehabilitation and/or impact his ceiling once he gets back on the field.
Hill inked a $120 million, four-year contract extension with Miami in 2022. Two years later, the Dolphins and the five-time All-Pro selection restructured the deal, pushing the guaranteed total to $106.5 million.
Those guarantees dried up this offseason, though his cap hit would have been north of $51 million in 2026. Cutting Hill after a downturn in production in 2024 followed by a major injury last year saved the franchise approximately $22 million against the salary cap after ushering in a new regime.
Spotrac did not have a market projection for Hill as of Tuesday.
Chiefs Could Resurrect Trio of Tyreek Hill, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce

The Chiefs must also consider Mahomes’ return timeline from a torn ACL/LCL, which he suffered in Week 15, when it comes to Hill’s free agency.
In a best-case scenario, Mahomes can also be ready for Week 1. However, just because he is technically ready doesn’t mean Kansas City will risk its three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback by rushing him back.
The upcoming campaign could also see tight end Travis Kelce return. Mahomes, Kelce and Hill featured together on the juggernaut Chiefs offense that won the Super Bowl in 2019-20.
Hill’s hypothetical return to Kansas City might influence Kelce, even if only minorly, with regards to his choice on retirement. Both men returning to the Chiefs would, at the very least, set the stage for high drama should the group remain afloat long enough for Mahomes to get healthy.
