Tacoma-area teams in 3A competition have been battling for
playoff positioning across basketball and girls flag football. Below is a recap
of the action from Jan. 24 through Feb. 13.
Boys Basketball
As of Feb. 13, 3A Tacoma boys basketball is led by Lincoln
High School, which holds a 13–3 league record and 13–3 overall. Mount Tahoma
High School follows with an 8–8 league mark and 10–10 overall, while Bellarmine
Preparatory School remains a powerhouse with a 16–0 league record and 20–2
overall. Other teams in contention include Silas High School (9–7 league, 13–9
overall), Gig Harbor High School (10–6 league, 13–8 overall), and Central
Kitsap High School (5–11 league, 9–11 overall), all vying for postseason
seeding.
From Monday, Jan. 26, through Saturday, Feb. 7, 3A boys
basketball featured several key conference and early postseason games. Jan. 26
began with Issaquah High School defeating Mount Tahoma 75–58 and Bellarmine
beating Annie Wright Schools 59–47. On Jan. 28, Bellarmine edged Lincoln 54–44,
Gig Harbor defeated Silas 77–61, and Mount Tahoma outlasted Central Kitsap
74–65. Jan. 30 saw Bellarmine top Gig Harbor 63–46, Lincoln narrowly defeat
Mount Tahoma 82–73, and Silas prevail over Central Kitsap 76–71.
The week of Feb. 2 brought continued dominance from
Bellarmine with a 71–39 win over Mount Tahoma, while Lincoln cruised past Silas
88–59. Gig Harbor defeated Central Kitsap 65–53. On Feb. 4, Bellarmine topped
Silas 89–68, Lincoln beat Central Kitsap 76–52, and Mount Tahoma overcame Gig
Harbor 74–63. Postseason play on Feb. 7 featured Peninsula edging Silas 71–65
and Bellarmine advancing with a 54–39 win over River Ridge.
Friday, Feb. 13, postseason matchups included White River
visiting Federal Way Memorial at 2:30 p.m., followed by Thomas Jefferson at
River Ridge, Silas at Lakes, and Auburn Mountainview at Bellarmine, all with 7
p.m. starts. Saturday, Feb. 14, features Peninsula against Gig Harbor at 2
p.m., followed by Lakes at White River and Timberline at Todd Beamer, both at 6

Boys District Playoffs
The 2026 District 3 3A Boys Basketball Tournament kicks off
with first-round matchups setting the stage for a competitive postseason.
Top-seeded teams face lower seeds in single-elimination games, with winners
advancing toward the semifinals and ultimately the championship at Mount Tahoma
High School.
First Round – Saturday, Feb. 14 at Higher Seeds
#1 Todd Beamer vs. #11 Timberline – 6 p.m.
#2 White River vs. #10 Lakes – 6 p.m.
#3 Gig Harbor vs. #12 Peninsula – 2 p.m.

Girls Basketball
In 3A Tacoma girls basketball, Gig Harbor High School leads
the league with a 14–2 record and 17–4 overall. Bellarmine follows at 12–4
league, 14–6 overall, while Silas stands at 8–8 league and 11–10 overall.
Lincoln High School is 7–9 league, 8–10 overall, with Central Kitsap at 4–12
league and 6–14 overall. Mount Tahoma has struggled, posting 0–16 in league and
2–18 overall.
From Feb. 2–7, conference and postseason games highlighted
the competitiveness of the league. Feb. 2 saw Gig Harbor defeat Central Kitsap
70–49, Lincoln beat Silas 62–33, and Bellarmine dominate Mount Tahoma 63–19.
Feb. 4 brought Bellarmine’s 65–42 win over Silas, Gig Harbor’s 43–17 rout of
Mount Tahoma, and Lincoln topping Central Kitsap 77–48. Feb. 6 featured Central
Kitsap defeating Mount Tahoma 62–39. In postseason play on Feb. 7, Lincoln
edged Peninsula 61–47, while Gig Harbor fell to North Thurston 47–31.
Friday, Feb. 13, postseason matchups included Silas at
Lakes, Auburn Mountainview at Bellarmine, and Lincoln at Decatur, all with 7
p.m. starts. Scores will appear in the next issue.

Girls Flag Football
Tacoma-area girls flag football teams continue to impress in
WIAA 3A competition. Lincoln High School leads with a perfect 10–0 league
record and 19–2 overall. Silas High School is competitive at 8–2 league, 9–6
overall, while Mount Tahoma sits at 9–3 league, 11–6 overall. Other Tacoma-area
programs include Central Kitsap (6–4 league, 7–8 overall), Gig Harbor (6–5
league, 8–8 overall), and River Ridge (5–5 league, 6–9 overall). Teams outside
Tacoma, including Capital, Peninsula, Bellarmine, North Thurston, and
Timberline, round out the 3A competition.
