After finishing their 2025 season with a 12-5 record and an NFC Championship loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Los Angeles Rams enter the offseason with several key players hitting the market.
Among them is safety Kam Curl, who the Rams originally signed to a two-year deal prior to the 2024 season. Over the last two years, the former Arkansas Razorback has played in 33 games and recorded 201 tackles, 14 passes defensed, three sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Hitting free agency this offseason, there will be multiple teams vying to sign Curl, and this week, ESPN’s Matt Bowen identified the Chicago Bears as the best fit for the safety.
“Both of Chicago’s starting safeties (Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard III) are free agents, opening up some spots,” Bowen wrote. “In coordinator Dennis Allen’s defense, Curl (who had two picks with the Rams in 2025) can play as an interchangeable safety and improve the Bears‘ run defense. And don’t be surprised if the team brings back Byard to join him, too.”
Los Angeles currently has Kamren Kinchens, Quentin Lake, Jaylen McCollough and Tanner Ingle under contract at safety for 2026. While they’d certainly benefit from keeping Curl around for the foreseeable future, they may not have the money to pay another safety with their holes at other spots.
Meanwhile, Curl could really help the Bears soften the blow from potentially losing both starters, and if one of them returns, he’ll have a great partner to help solidify their back-end in the second year of the Ben Johnson era in Chicago.
