It seems like Vic Fangio likes to use more of a 3-4 front than a 4-3, so perhaps Christian Parker brings that same mentality? I think with Dallas’ current roster they are better suited for a 3-4 anyway with Osa Odighizuwa, Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark manning the trenches and edge rushers like Donovan Ezeirauk who are quick and can get to the ball. What are your thoughts? – Cam Hamrick*/Mint Hill, NC*

Mickey: Like your thought for versatility, but a 3-4 defense needs two inside linebacker studs. And at this point, depending what happens in free agency and the with the two first round draft picks, not sure the Cowboys have one true inside linebacker. And don’t think Osa is a prototype 3-4 defensive end. Still think the personnel is better suited for a 4-3, especially with Ezie’s ability to play the run as a defensive end. Plus, as much nickel defense teams must play in this era of football, you’ re going to be in 4-3 alignments a majority of downs anyway. Maybe this is why the Cowboys have hired inside and outside linebackers assistant coaches, for development reasons.
