The New York Jets have been residing at the bottom of the NFL for years now. After the 2025 season, things haven’t gotten much better.

The Jets’ leading receiver caught his last pass in early October; they lost by well over 20 points in their last five games, and they didn’t intercept a pass all season. It was a rough season, with Breece Hall being the lone bright spot on the field for the Jets.

But, as ESPN’s Aaron Schatz shared, the sense around the NFL is that Hall wants to leave the Jets behind for a more successful organization this offseason. The free-agent-to-be will have plenty of suitors and could leave the struggling Jets behind this offseason.

Sense around NFL is Breece Hall wants to leave Jets

“Hall will be hitting free agency in a couple of weeks, and there’s a sense that he wants to move to a more successful organization,” Schatz writes.

This makes some sense, as Hall shared a post on Twitter/x on Super Bowl Sunday, “Hope I get to experience football on this stage. … I’ll get there one day. I know it.”

Hall is a great dual-threat running back, recording 1,065 rushing yards this season to go with 350 receiving yards despite the Jets’ offense being one of the worst in the NFL.

If Hall could leave the Jets and join a team like the Kansas City Chiefs or some other contender that needs a running back, he’d have a much better chance of playing in the Super Bowl than with the Jets.

While the Jets might be building up towards such a future, they’re at least two years away from being playoff contenders. Their quarterback spot is a major question mark, and it won’t be resolved this offseason for the foreseeable future.

With such a shaky future in New York, it wouldn’t be strange for Hall to want out. The issue for Hall, and all of the top running back-needy teams, is that the Jets are expected to place a tag on Hall to stop him from hitting free agency.

The 24-year-old standout running back might not be leaving the Jets anytime soon, despite, as Schatz noted, the sense that he wants to leave the Jets to play for a contender.
