San Jacinto College has earned recognition from the Texas Skills Standards Board for aligning its instrumentation technology program with industry-related standards, placing the program among the state’s leading training pathways.
San Jacinto is one of only two colleges in Texas to receive this recognition, and this is the first year it has received the distinction, according to a Feb. 10 news release from the college.
The details
The recognition confirms that the program meets the competencies required for industrial instrumentation technicians in petrochemical, refining and advanced manufacturing sectors, according to the release.
Faculty aligned program courses with the skills industrial technicians use on the job using the Workforce Education Course Manual as a guide, according to the release.
Also of note
With this distinction, the program joins San Jacinto College’s process technology program, which previously earned acknowledgment for meeting chemical and refining process technician standards.
Both programs are housed in the LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy and Technology, which is located at 7901 Fairmont Parkway in Pasadena, the nation’s largest petrochemical training facility, according to the release.
