New Texans defensive assistant Jay Simpson (Memphis Football, KPRC2)
HOUSTON – The Texans have hired former Memphis cornerbacks coach Jay Simpson as a defensive assistant, per a league source,
Simpson is a former Arkansas State defensive pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach.
Simpson coached an all-conference safety at Arkansas State as Trevian Thomas intercepted five passes.
Simpson was previously the cornerbacks coach at Alabama-Birmingham, winning three consecutive Conference USA division titles.
He coached and played at South Alabama where he was a two-year starting corner.
