With all the changes coming to the Miami Dolphins this offseason, the roster is going to look very different to open the new 2026 NFL season. Miami has already released both star wide receiver Tyreek Hill and star pass rusher Bradley Chubb in two cost-saving moves.
With the new regime now in place with the Dolphins, the team is looking to make drastic decisions to better set themselves up for the future. We could see more of these types of moves coming down the line, and Miami seems to have a strict plan in place.
New head coach Jeff Hafley will have a lot of say in how the roster is constructed, and this may not be a one-offseason rebuild for this franchise. Miami does have a few players who could be moved in trades, and it’s expected to be an active offseason for this organization.
Miami Looking to Trade Minkah Fitzpatrick?
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, it seems that Miami is now holding trade talks with teams around star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. With the team undergoing big changes, another Pro-Bowler could be out of town.
“Sources: The Dolphins have had trade talks with teams regarding 5x Pro Bowl S Minkah Fitzpatrick. Miami released four players earlier this week, including Tyreek Hill, and are in the early stages of resetting the roster under a new regime.”

Minkah Fitzpatrick Sent to Green Bay Packers
One team that desperately needs help in the secondary is the Green Bay Packers, who are entering the offseason determined to add. Green Bay’s defense was one of the best in the NFL last season, but the big weakness came from the secondary.
After trading for star pass rusher Micah Parsons, Green Bay was able to generate all sorts of pressure, but its pass defense was lacking. If this team could add someone like Fitzpatrick, the defense would be much more well-rounded as this team looks to take that next step in 2026.
His 2025 season was a little rocky, but the veteran still found ways to impact the game, even on a poor Dolphins team. Overall, Fitzpatrick posted 82 total tackles, one interception, and one sack.
The veteran safety does have a cap hit of $18.8 million for the upcoming season, which could be why the Dolphins are looking to move him. But whatever team he is on can void his contract after this 2026 season, so there isn’t much long-term risk in adding Fitzpatrick if you’re the Packers.
Fitzpatrick could be the veteran presence that helps bring this secondary together, and trading for him would allow the Packers to focus elsewhere in the upcoming NFL Draft. Over his career, Fitzpatrick has been electric on the field, and this could be exactly what Green Bay needs to become a true Super Bowl contender.
The Packers can’t afford to waste another year with this core in place, so the front office being aggressive needs to take place. This organization is all about titles, and it’s been a while since they could call themselves Super Bowl champions.
