Hamilton Heights is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Caleb Small as the Huskies new head football coach.

Small

“After speaking with Caleb, we all agree that this is the right direction to go for our football program and we feel that Caleb will positively and effectively step in as our varsity head football coach,” said Superintendent Derek Arrowood. “He has leadership experience and the passion to develop young people, both on and off the field.  I am confident that he will do a good job of guiding and leading our program.”

Mr. Small will replace Jon Kirschner who has been head coach at Hamilton Heights the past eight years (41-43) and guided the program to its first-ever Hoosier Conference championship in 2023.

Mr. Small is a 2008 graduate of Hamilton Heights High School and a 2013 Marian University graduate where he was a four-year letter-winner in both football and baseball while earning a degree in Business Marketing and Secondary Education.  He will be a part-time Physical Education instructor and part-time Business teacher at Hamilton Heights HS.

Mr. Small has been fortunate to be in a very good position for several years working as Offensive Coordinator and quarterbacks coach at both Noblesville and Ben Davis.  Those experiences earned him two head coaching positions, successfully leading the Northwestern Tigers to a 9-2 season in 2024 and the Kokomo Wildcats to a 4-7 season in 2025.

“Caleb is coming back home to coach at his alma mater having gained 13-plus years of high-level coaching experience along the way. He added to his resume invaluable successful experiences as the OC at Noblesville and Ben Davis where he played an integral part in the 2023 state championship and the four 6A final four appearances that preceded the state championship.  The past two years, he has been head coach of two different programs and had success developing young men at both,” said Athletic Director Kurt Ogden.  “We feel that Caleb’s ability to build relationships and a selfless culture while pursuing excellence on and off the field, will positively impact more athletes at Hamilton Heights than just the football team.  His past coaching experiences clearly made him the front-runner for the job.”

Caleb and his wife Ally, reside in Cicero.  They have been married nine years and have two children, son Elliot (7) and daughter Parker (5).
