The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be in the market for a quarterback this offseason, so why not consider adding one in the NFL Draft?
Pittsburgh currently has the No. 21 pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, which may be an ideal spot for a quarterback to slip down the board.
Tom Fornelli from CBS Sports released a mock draft on Wednesday, predicting that the Steelers will select Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the 21st overall pick.
“For the first half of the 2025 season, Simpson was the best QB in college football. Then things quickly eroded over the second half of the season,” Fornelli wrote. “The talent is still there, and I can’t help but feel like the hiring of Mike McCarthy was done with QB development in mind. Maybe Simpson isn’t drafted to start right away, but the Steelers need a QB, and Simpson is good value here.”
If the Steelers are looking to draft a quarterback in the first round, then Simpson could be a solid option. Simpson spent four seasons at Alabama but only started one full season.

Simpson probably should have returned to school for another season, but he decided to enter the NFL Draft after throwing for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns this past season.
