Missouri House Speaker Pro‑Tem Chad Perkins isn’t taking the news of the Kansas City Chiefs impending move to a new state-of-the-art $3 billion stadium in Kansas City, Kansas in 2031.

In fact, he recently made it known just how angry he is about the team’s decision in a recent interview with Missourinet, in which he stated he believes the Chiefs shouldn’t be allowed to play another down at historic Arrowhead Stadium.

“Arrowhead Stadium’s not owned by the Chiefs, it’s owned by the Jackson County Sports Authority,” Perkins stated. “If I were the Jackson County Sports Authority, I’d tell (them), get out right now. Just get your stuff and get out now.

“Go play football at a high school field in Overland Park. I don’t care. Get out. And you can sue me, and we can go to court, and I think a Missouri jury might just agree with me right now, right?”

The team’s stadium won’t be built until 2031 — a site has yet to be determined, though it will be in Wyandotte County — meaning the Chiefs have five more seasons left at Arrowhead.

Perkins professed the Chiefs’ duplicity is even harder to process because they were “treated like a princess” and still actively looked for ways to leave Missouri.

However, team owner Clark Hunt disclosed after the relocation announcement was made that he’s making the move for the betterment of Chiefs fans.

“We made a decision as a family that this was the right opportunity and the best for the organization for several reasons,” Hunt said. “… This will give Chiefs kingdom a state-of-the-art facility for multiple generations, a building that can last for at least 50 or 60 years.

“We believe it’s the best thing for the region. It will give Kansas City the opportunity to bid on events that we can’t host right now, like the Super Bowl, the College Football Playoff and the NCAA Final Fours.”
