Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes celebrates wife Brittany Mahomes’ major award.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is doing everything in his power to be ready to start in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.
After undergoing surgery for an ACL and MCL tear in January, he’s been focused on rehab. As for the Chiefs, they’re working on building a roster to better support the three-time Super Bowl MVP.
In order to make some moves, Kansas City restructured Mahomes’ contract, converting $54.45 million salary into a signing bonus, freeing up a much-needed $43.65 million in cap space. While Mahomes and Co. look to bounce back next season, the quarterback is leaning on his wife, Brittany Mahomes, for support.

Brittany Mahomes Will Be Honored With the First-Ever Champion for Change Award by United WE
United WE, a national women’s leadership organization, is recognizing Brittany’s work as a founding co-owner of the KC Current. The Current were not only the fastest team to win the NWSL Shield this season, but they also finished the regular season as the No. 1-ranked team, breaking several league records.
“United WE is proud to announce Brittany Mahomes as the inaugural recipient of the Champion for Change Award at our Champions for Change event at CPKS Stadium,” they posted on Instagram.
“Brittany Mahomes will be honored for the lasting economic and cultural impact she has made in Kansas City and beyond through her leadership, entrepreneurship, and investment in women’s professional sports.
“An entrepreneur, investor, athlete, mother of three, and co-owner of the @kccurrent, Brittany has helped elevate women’s sports as both a cultural force and a growing economic engine — including through investment in the first stadium purpose-built for a women’s professional team.
Mahomes, who joined the KC Current as a co-owner in 2023, reposted the announcement on his Instagram Stories without further comment. His foundation was also recognized in United WE’s statement:
“Through the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, she and her husband, Patrick Mahomes, have contributed millions to initiatives advancing children’s health, wellness, and opportunity in underserved communities. Her leadership demonstrates that when women are visible, invested, and at the decision-making table, communities and economies grow stronger.”
The award will be handed out on May 6.
