The contracts for four New York Jets players have been voided with the team.
Void years are baked into contracts that were previously signed, which means all of these players were already going to be free agents.
The idea is to help spread out the player’s salary cap hit over a longer period upon first putting ink to paper. It helps initially, but now the dead-cap hits for each of these individuals will count against New York’s salary cap even though they are set to become free agents.
Those cap his can change if the player eventually re-signs with the Jets, which is still possible. As of now, combined, those four will count $13.375 million against the salary cap as dead-cap hits according to Spotrac.
That now begs the question, who are the four?
