First, Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson announced his return to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer on Thursday.
Now, left guard Landon Dickerson is expected to return next season, according to longtime Eagles reporter Derrick Gunn.
“Despite his frustrations with health issues Landon Dickerson is planning to return for the 2026 season,” Gunn posted on X.
McLane and NFL Network reported this offseason that Dickerson’s playing future was uncertain, leading to speculation that the 27-year-old may retire.
Dickerson has played through several injuries in his first five seasons, including a knee and back injury this past season. He tore his ACL twice and suffered ankle injuries during his collegiate career, which caused him to drop to the second round.
Some were concerned that Dickerson’s body would break down in the NFL, shortening his career longevity. That fear could still come true.
Even with Dickerson returning for another season, the Eagles need to draft or sign a potential replacement and add more depth at the position.
After making three consecutive Pro Bowls (2022-2024), Dickerson’s performance was below average in 2025. His movement skills and strength, which were once elite, declined. It was clear that he was not healthy.
The Eagles will hope Dickerson can bounce back in 2026.
Two years ago, they signed Dickerson to a four-year, $84 million contract extension, including $50 million guaranteed. At the time, he was considered one of the league’s best young offensive linemen.
That’s not the case anymore.
He has a lot to prove moving forward.
