It was a close one on Tuesday night for the Lady Bucs against the Edgewood-Colesburg Vikings.

The Buccaneers put their all into their second-round playoff matchup with the Vikings but fell short by just eight points.

The last time East Buchanan battled the Vikings in Edgewood, the team was dealing with multiple injuries and lost by a much larger margin.

This time around, the Buccaneers found their rhythm right away and communicated well throughout most of the game, as the score remained tight and went back and forth all night.

East Buchanan knocked down several three-pointers in the final minutes, but they just weren’t able to close the gap completely. Edgewood-Colesburg secured the 74–66 victory.

The loss closes the chapter for three of East Buchanan’s graduating seniors — Elsie Flexsenhar, Kreighton Peck, and Kate Dolan. They have much to be proud of from their four years in the program, even if the record didn’t reflect all they had hoped for this season.

“Our game against Ed-Co may not have ended how we all wanted it to, but I think we still played our best game yet — not only offensively or defensively, but also as a team,” said Flexsenhar. “Having a season end like that really sucks, but I couldn’t have asked for a better last game. We played so hard and had an amazing team all season.”

“I am going to miss this team,” she added. “I’m going to miss playing basketball with my mom as the assistant coach and playing with my sister this year. I just can’t thank my team and coaches enough.”

When the final buzzer sounded, it marked so much more than just the end of a season — it was the end of a chapter for these three seniors, who have played together for so many years. Basketball has been such an important part of their lives, but now they’re ready to take on the next chapter, carrying the memories, lessons, and friendships built along the way.
