Report: Commanders to cut 4-time Pro Bowl Saints CB Marshon Lattimore
Feb. 20, 2026, 11:51 a.m. CT
It sure looks like the New Orleans Saints won their Marshon Lattimore trade with the Washington Commanders. Lattimore is expected to be cut by Washington after two brief seasons, per Evan Sidery for Kalshi Sports. Lattimore had been suggested as a salary cap casualty before so it wouldn’t be too surprising for Washington to move on. Sidery does say the Commanders intend to release him before the start of the new league year on March 11 so it’s possible another team could make them a trade offer in the weeks leading up to that deadline. Putting the story out there this early may be exactly what they’re hoping for, but we’ll wait and see how it develops.
Injuries limited Lattimore to just 11 regular season games and three playoff games after the Saints dealt him at the 2024 trade deadline; he came away with 12 pass breakups and an interception but wasn’t the lockdown cover corner Washington envisioned. Lattimore is under contract for the final year of his contract in 2026 but he’s run out of guarantees, and the Commanders can recoup $18.5 million by releasing him. Lattimore will turn 30 in May but figures to draw interest on the free agent market once he’s recovered from a midseason knee injury. He was arrested in an offseason traffic stop which could be a factor other teams consider.
