KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Chiefs are no strangers to reuniting with a former player or coach. This offseason, the Chiefs have already brought back former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to the same role, three years after he departed.
Now, with the Miami Dolphins releasing wide receiver Tyreek Hill, speculation has run rampant about a potential return for the former Chiefs star.
But asked by reporters Friday about whether a reunion between the Chiefs and the “Cheetah” could be in play, head coach Andy Reid was hesitant.
“I don’t even know if Tyreek is healthy right now to do anything,” Reid said as Hill recovers from a dislocated knee and multiple torn ligaments that have required surgery.
This week, Hill was on a Twitch stream and told viewers he still needed another surgery on his LCL before he can complete the rehab process and return to play.
“I’m sure he’s working hard on that part of it, trying to get all that straightened out,” Reid continued. “We talk about everything so there’s nothing happening there, but we know what you know and he’s out there cranking away trying to get himself back to where he can play, period.”
Hill set a career high in receiving yards during his four seasons in Miami. He was traded there after he and the Chiefs failed to come to agreement on an extension following the 2021 season.
The former fifth-round pick of the Chiefs will turn 32 in March.
