Whether it’s free agency, the 2026 NFL Draft, or an exciting trade, the Pittsburgh Steelers need to upgrade their wide receiver position this offseason. And one insider had an exciting idea for the Steel City brand of football.
On Friday, insider Mark Kaboly discussed the idea of Pittsburgh trading for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who was previously linked to the Steelers at last year’s trade deadline.
“The one who’s very interesting to me, and I know he’s not on the block, but a lot of things are happening in Miami right now, is Waddle,” Kaboly said via 93.7 The Fan. “Because they were definitely interested in him last year at the deadline. Depending on who you believe, Miami pulled out at the last second, or they would have at least had an opportunity to acquire him.”
Selected by Miami with the 6th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Waddle has recorded 373 receptions for 5,039 yards and 26 touchdowns in his first five seasons in the league, becoming a staple of the Dolphins offense. But after the Dolphins released Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb, and potentially Tua Tagovailoa, Waddle’s time in Miami could soon be up as well.
It’s hard to imagine Waddle commanding the same draft capital that Pittsburgh gave up in the DK Metcalf trade, but a third-round and potentially late-round pick could be enough to get the Dolphins to give up their speedy wideout.
