The Wolverines have their new head coach for its football program.
Ellwood City hired Sean McConahy as its next head high school football coach during a special board meeting on Friday, February 20th.
McConahy, a current science teacher at LHS, brings experience in the district, passion for football and conditioning, and coaching experience at one of more recent success stories in District 10 (Wilmington coaching staff).
After claiming a District 10 Class 2A Championship in 2024, Wilmington fell to Greenville in the District 10 1A Championship game in November in a bid to repeat. The Greyhounds also won a Class 2A Championship and earned a state championship game appearance in 2020.
The ECASD Board of Directors tabled the head coach hiring decision at a Monday, February 9th board meeting.
Ellwood City hired now former coach Dan Bradley, a former OLSH football coach, to fix a distressed program that hadn’t won a game in three seasons entering the 2022 campaign.
His overall record with the Wolverines was 24-20, culminating in a conference title and playoff appearances, making him a highly successful coach in his four seasons. Bradley earned the MAC Conference Coach of the Year in 2024 after the team earned first undefeated season since 1944, first conference title since 1997, and first WPIAL semifinals appearance since 1987.
