INDIANAPOLIS — The Cowboys started the offseason properly, agreeing to terms with running back Javonte Williams, one of their bright spots from the 2025 season, on Saturday.

Williams agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal with a $6 million signing bonus and $16 million guaranteed, two people with knowledge of the contract talks told The Dallas Morning News. The Cowboys will need to create salary cap space by March 11 to finalize the contract before the start of the NFL’s league year.

Once that occurs, Williams will sign a deal coming off a career season in which he rushed for 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns.

With the national scouting combine beginning next week, the Cowboys have started the process of taking care of their Fantastic Four of free agents.

Williams is part of that quartet.

Wide receiver George Pickens is coming off a career year, and team officials are expected to place a franchise tag (projected $28 million) on him with the objective of signing him to a long-term contract.

Edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney is another player the team wants to bring back. Clowney led the team with 8 1/2 sacks last season.

Kicker Brandon Aubrey is a restricted free agent and is considered one of the top players at his position. The Cowboys can place either a first- or second-round tender on him instead of a three- or four-year deal.

The Williams agreement started quickly and quietly. When the season ended, club officials started talks with his agent, Nicole Lynn. But Williams decided to switch agents, which delayed talks.

Lynn’s agency, Klutch Sports, was retained, and both sides were able to finalize the deal.
