The 2026 NFL league year is set to open in less than one month, meaning the frenzy of free agency is quickly coming. For the Denver Broncos, finding some playmakers to help Bo Nix on offense is imperative, but their biggest in-house free agency dilemma is at the linebacker position.Â
The Broncos will have both Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad hitting free agency and it’s likely that at least one of them will accept a new contract from another team. Without a lot of depth behind them, along with the decision on whether or not to cut Dre Greenlaw, the Broncos have a lot to deal with.Â
The Dallas Cowboys just created a potential avenue to find an answer.Â
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Cowboys have released linebacker Logan Wilson. The move will save the Cowboys $6.5 million against the salary cap.Â
Just before the trade deadline last season, the Cowboys acquired Wilson from the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a seventh-round pick. A third-round pick of the Bengals in 2020 out of Wyoming, Wilson has 565 career tackles, 5.5 sacks and 11 interceptions.Â
Broncos should consider Logan Wilson in free agency
If the Broncos lose Singleton, Strnad, or both in free agency, it’s not going to hurt to see what Wilson still has left in the tank. He will turn 30 years old in July, but that’s younger than Singleton and Strand turns 30 in August.Â
Wilson has good experience, having played for a team that went to the Super Bowl in Cincinnati and his ability to play the pass could be intriguing for a team that needs that out of an inside linebacker.Â
The Broncos could bring Wilson in on a one-year, prove-it deal and have him compete for a starting job this summer. If the Broncos hang onto two of Greenlaw, Singleton, or Strnad, he could provide experienced depth at a position where the Broncos have dealt with injuries over the last couple of years.Â
