As we continue to wait on what the Las Vegas Raiders and Maxx Crosby will do, a new report suggests what the Raiders can expect in return if they do trade the five-time Pro Bowler.
According to Vincent Bonsignore of the New York Post, leagues sources are telling him that because of the demand Crosby would warrant, two first-round picks are expected to be the minimum return Las Vegas receives.
Bonsignore reiterates, however, that nothing has been decided yet as far as Crosby’s future is concerned, although there could be more clarity as soon as the scouting combine, which will take place in Indianapolis starting this week.
“One way or another, expect to get some clarity this week in Indianapolis, with the Raiders getting a better handle on Crosby’s wishes and, just as pertinently, getting an idea of what type of compensation might be available to them should he ask for a trade,” Bonsignore wrote. “The teams lining up to acquire Crosby would be in double digits, according to multiple league sources, and likely drive the return to a minimum of two first-round picks.”
Among the many suitors for Crosby could be the New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Buffalo Bills, all of whom need EDGE help.
The Cowboys are best equipped to pay that trade price given the fact that they have three first-round picks in the next two drafts and a desperate need for significant upgrades on defense, including at edge rusher.
That said, we believe the Patriots, Eagles and Bills would all, at the very least, consider giving up that much due to their status as win-now teams.
The advantage for the Cowboys is their 2026 pick will be higher than those of the other three teams, and there’s a good chance Dallas’ 2027 selection will be higher, also.
One caveat to point out here is that the Raiders are likely to work with Crosby to send him to where he wants to go because of the enormous amount of respect they have for him, so being willing to send over multiple first-round picks and more is just one step in the process of trying to acquire him.
Crosby is going to want to join a Super Bowl contender, and the Patriots, Bills and Eagles check that box, whereas the Cowboys don’t.
Another positive for the Patriots is Crosby is reportedly a big fan of head coach Mike Vrabel, so that could give them a big edge over other suitors.
Whatever the case may be, keep a close eye on this situation over the next week, as we could finally get the answers we’re all seeking.
